Congratulations!

Well done to Ivory (4J) Jeremy (6A) and Vidhath (6A) who all received their Black Belt for Taekwondo grading on the weekend.

They have all been training very hard at Hunsu Taekwondo and they should be very proud of all their hard work and dedication.

Also, to Casper (5R) for achieving an A+ on his recent piano exam.

Keep up the terrific work.

PJ Day and Popcorn Day

Last Friday, children paid a gold coin donation to dress in colourful and comfortable PJs and onesies. They were also able to purchase bags of popcorn from our ‘pop up’ GPA popcorn stall to help raise money for the costumes for Cabaret, coming up in Term 3 on Tuesday 11th September.

Thank you to Margot White, Sally Parrish, Anupreet Kaur, Mouli Dutta and Lisa (staff) and Tania (staff) for helping make, bag and serve the popcorn. A big thank you to Margo for co-ordinating the popcorn once again. And thank you to everyone who got behind this fundraising effort.

Financial Update

We hope to raise another $8,000 by the end of the year for 2 additional air-conditioners on the West Site.

The GPA are also keen to support the Buildings and Grounds Committee in building a bike shed for the West Site. We are planning a Ride-A-Thon during school hours in Term 3 to raise money for this worthy cause (proposed date of Friday 24th August – to be confirmed).

GPA funds are also used for running various specialist programs.

Cake Raffle – Fridays – Tickets $1

Thank you to our Term 2 bakers – Call out for Term 3 bakers

Thank you to Christine Short for signing up to take out the final spot on the Term 2 roster – her second spot for the term. Thank you also to Hayley Kringas, Heera Arvind, Helen Matthews, Maria Simmons, Martina Gevaux, Nicole Verginis, Rose Agnew and Roxanne Conquest for signing up to bake this term, and to anyone else who baked but didn’t make it onto our sign-up roster.

Our cake roster will be running every Friday next term, commencing in the first week on Friday 20 July. One family signs up each week to showcase their baking skills with something sweet – such as a cake, a batch of cupcakes, biscuits or slice, etc.

Students can buy tickets for $1 each to be in with a chance to win the coveted prize.

And if it is your week to bake, your child or children get their chance to take to the stage at assembly to show off what’s on offer and invite students to buy a ticket.

We would love to see some new names on the roster – so don’t be shy. Sign up here: http://signup.com/go/FzGusoN

Thank you to our Term 2 volunteers –  Call out for Term 3 volunteers

Thank you to Archana Jaiswal, Archana Mallik, Deepshikha Joshi, Harisri, Heera Arvind, Magda Afxentis, Margo White Meerashibu, Mouli Dutta, Rohini Kulkarni, Shan Jayaweera, Sona B, Sunanda for volunteering, and to anyone else who pitched in to help but who didn’t make it onto our sign up roster. A big thank you to Cassandra David and Venmani Sasikumar for jointly coordinating and volunteering consistently every week.

In Term 3 we will continue to offer hot chocolates and frozen Berri Quelch Fruit Juice Sticks every week, with service commencing in Week 2 on Friday 27 July. Forms will go out in the first week of Term 3 inviting you to pre-order for the entire term. Students who do not pre order can purchase their snack on the day for $1. Students who bring along their own cup/mug from home receive a free marshmallow in their hot chocolate!

As well as being very much enjoyed by GHPS students, the Friday snacks are a great fundraiser for our school – we raised over $5,600 during 2017. We hope that you will continue to support us by volunteering to help and by purchasing snacks.

Our Term 3 roster is wide open. If you can spare an hour on a Friday lunchtime, please sign up for one or more spots here: http://signup.com/go/ZeWBDjP

“ROCKTOBER” – Save the Date (Sat 27th October)

The GPA are planning an action-packed musical trivia night with a spin – “Rocktober” will be an event not to be missed! Shan Jayaweera (our very own “Rocktober” Co-Ordinator) has wonderful ideas about how we can incorporate the many musically talented GHPS parents and teachers in writing trivia questions and being involved on the night with live performances! So start thinking about booking your baby-sitters for Saturday 27th October – We can’t wait!

“Rocktober” will be held at the Wendy Wilson Hall at GHPS. More details will be available during Term 3 … watch this space.
