The Glen Huntly Cooking Program introduces our students to basic culinary skills and nutrition. Students learn to read recipes, measure ingredients, and use kitchen tools safely.
They gain practical knowledge about food hygiene and healthy eating habits. The program emphasizes teamwork and communication as students work in groups. Cooking lessons also integrate math (measuring, fractions), science (chemical reactions), and cultural studies (exploring cuisines from different countries). This hands-on experience not only boosts their confidence in the kitchen but also encourages creativity and responsibility, providing a strong foundation for lifelong healthy eating habits and essential life skills.
Each class from Prep to Grade 6 participates in a cooking class once per term, with students enthusiastically enjoying the delicious food they have prepared.
